Grand Highlands at Bearwallow Mountain, under development by Summerset, Inc., one of western North Carolina’s premier developers of amenitized communities, is celebrating the groundbreaking of its clubhouse amenity located on Bearwallow Mountain Road in the north western portion of Henderson County.
Located in the heart of the 289 acre gated community reaching almost 4,000 feet elevation, the Clubhouse will overlook lush green rolling meadows with horses grazing inside miles of black rail fencing and a backdrop of vistas spanning nearly 60 miles over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Miles of hiking trails and numerous spring fed streams accentuate Mother Nature’s handy-work throughout the retreat.
This luxurious centerpiece features a large gathering hall, an expansive member’s lounge, a well stocked library, a large billiards room with stone fireplace, a 2,000 square feet fitness center, complete with men’s and women’s locker rooms, a business center and covered verandas on all sides. The main club building will amass nearly 16,000 square feet under roof, featuring authentic stacked stone, large timbers and vast amounts of glass to take full advantage of nature at its finest.
The grounds around this magnificent building will be graced by lush native landscaping, leading to a 30 x 30 European Stone Gazebo with elliptical arches. The outdoor recreational amenities focus around an irregular shaped stone rimmed pool flanked by gracious patios with a large hot tub nearby. The Developer is anticipating completion of the clubhouse by late 2007 with the pool complex available by the summer of 2008.
Dean Anderson, Vice President of Summerset, Inc. says, “Our original promise to our Member Owners was for a club facility of between 4,000 and 5,000 square feet, but our early marketing successes and the obvious recognition that our clients perceived Grand Highlands at Bearwallow Mountain as something very unique and special, encouraged us to up the ante and invest in a future that will always put us at the top tier of those places future clients consider for their second home or retirement home.” Anderson goes on to say, “The market trends and our client’s overwhelming message has convinced us that baby boomers are looking for communities that have the luxury features typically offered by a golf course community such as lots of green space, gated entrances and first class amenities geared toward wellness, but without the large initial capital cost and high monthly dues of most golf communities.”
Ultimately, this private mountain community will be home to approximately 150 families residing in Estate Homes and Mountain Cottages situated atop one of the highest peaks in Henderson County. Lifestyle in this high country retreat is focused on wellness, clubhouse relaxation and entertainment.
Since the first closings in January of 2006, Grand Highlands at Bearwallow Mountain has already attracted more than 50 separate families as Member Owners and generated nearly $20 million in homesite sales. A new phase of limited homesites will be released later this year.
